IT and digital imaging make the villages at par with rest of the world
In order to keep people abreast of the latest technology one laptop and one desktop have been provided for training the youth to develop basic computer operating skills and using the system for managing ADIRE activities. The laptop is powered by solar panel charged battery and can be used anywhere in the villages without any dependence on grid electricity. The systems have Internet connectivity with wireless phones using wireless in local loop technology with web camera. It gives the flexibility to take the systems to any remote corner of any village in the radius of 50 miles and still be connected with the whole world. This has given tremendous exposure and awareness to the village kids, youth and others about what is going on in the outside world.
Free remote computer training is currently being given online to some youth and staff of ADIRE. Four youth are now trained and are training the kids and youth in the villages for free. Internet is also used to generate awareness on various health, hygiene, nutrition related issues. In summer'05 village kids were online with the kids in Green Bay, USA as a part of kids explore day event. Thanks to Ms. Karmen Lemke, WPSC, Green Bay for facilitating this event.
